In order to ensure our ECDs are offering the same – if not better – quality of education than analogous, independent institutions in the same areas, we regularly hold assessments. These assessments, along with constructive workshops, make sure each ECD provides its learners with the best possible start. Recently, we held such an assessment for the Tembisa ECDs.
Child Assessments in Tembisa
Children from 10 ECDs, earmarked for pre- assessment, were tested using the Early Inspiration Assessment Tool, which ensures the tests are age appropriate and carried out in a consistent manner.
We also tested children from two independent ECDs in Tembisa that have no affiliation to the Love Trust as a control group in order provide a measurable standard.
Post assessments will be carried out in October to physically measure the impact of the ECDs on the lives of these children.
Alumni Group ECD Evaluation Workshop in Tembisa
We held a morning workshop and ECD tour with all the Alumni ECD Teachers in Tembisa; these being teachers who have graduated from the TTC program.
The purpose of the workshop was to instruct each teacher on how to evaluate the ECDs, enabling them to use this knowledge to improve their own ECDs and assist other teachers to improve theirs. The workshop also served as a meet-and-greet for teachers, enabling them to network and form a support group in the area.
